From Aviso, January 2005
After a rigorous self-examination and peer review and a thorough examination by the Accreditation Commission, 20 museums were awarded accreditation at the commission’s meeting, Dec. 1-3. Of the museums, six were granted accredited status for the first time and 12 were granted subsequent accreditation. These museums join the 758 other institutions that have demonstrated excellence and operating in accordance with the best practices and highest standards in the field.
The commission, along with AAM staff and leadership, would like to thank those who served as peer reviewers on Accreditation Visiting Committee teams for these museums. These individuals offered their time and expertise to the accreditation process by conducting the site visit and writing a narrative report.
