Don't miss the extended entry deadline for AAM's annual writing competition, the Brooking Paper on Creativity in Museums, on March 1. The competition reinforces awareness of creative, innovative accomplishments that produce new ways of thinking and seeing within the museum field. Papers address education, collections, finance, exhibitions, community relations, staff structure, leadership or anything in between. The first-prize paper will be published in the May/June 2007 Museum News, and the first-prize winner will receive $1,000 plus $500 toward travel expenses to the AAM Annual Meeting in Chicago. Two honorable mentions also will be awarded. All three winning papers will be available on the AAM website in May 2007.
Museum professionals and volunteers worldwide are eligible to enter. Papers should be approximately 2,500 words and can describe examples of creativity, innovation and imagination in any aspect of museum operations. Previously published pieces will not be accepted. Submissions should be e-mailed to brooking@aam-us.org.
