AAM Congratulates Recent Accreditation Awardees

The Accreditation Commission awarded accreditation to seven museums at its March 21–23 meeting, with one museum granted accredited status for the first time and six granted subsequent accreditation (reaccreditation). AAM congratulates these institutions, listed below, and commends them for their hard work and dedication to the highest standards.

These seven museums are now among more than 770 accredited institutions nationwide. The award of accreditation signifies that these institutions meet the "Characteristics of an Accreditable Museum" and other program standards, have undergone a rigorous process of self-assessment and site visit review by their peers, operate in accordance with the best practices and highest standards in the field and fulfill their obligations to the public as set forth in their missions.

The commission, along with AAM staff and leadership, extends its gratitude to the peer reviewers who served on the Accreditation Visiting Committee teams for these museums. These individuals offered their time and expertise to the accreditation process by conducting site visits and writing reports for participating museums.

Visit the AAM website to view a complete list of all accredited museums and members of the Accreditation Commission. The next accreditation application period ends June 15; all application forms must be postmarked by this date.
