Excellence in Peer Service Awards
Six of AAM's peer reviewers have been selected for the 2007 Excellence in Peer Review Service Award. The award is bestowed annually to several peer reviewers for their outstanding performance during a museum visit in the previous calendar year.
Peer reviewers can be nominated by their site visit team member, the museum they visited or by MAP or accreditation program staff. Past award recipients and details about the award criteria can be found on the peer review section of the AAM website.
AAM congratulates and thanks this year's winners for their exemplary service to the field:
- Phil Kwiatkowski, director, Michigan Historical Museum System, Lansing, Mich.
- Bill Galvani, director, Naval Undersea Museum, Bainbridge Island, Wash.
- Ed Schneider, president/CEO, Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, Santa Barbara, Calif.
- Jeanette Toohey, chief curator, Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, Jacksonville, Fla.
- Marti Allen, director, Arkansas State University Museum, State University, Ark.
- Don Zuris, head curator, Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History, Corpus Christi, Tex.
Coming Soon: Online Updates for Peer Reviewers
Museum Assessment Program (MAP) and Accreditation Program peer reviewers soon will be able to update their profile information online. Logging onto the AAM website will allow reviewers to edit contact information, employment and education history and areas of professional experience and expertise. This new online feature will allow AAM staff to maintain the most accurate and current peer review information possible, thereby improving our ability to stay in touch with peer reviewers and match them with the appropriate site visit. Be on the lookout for details from the peer reviewer manager.
