Media & Technology MUSE Awards

Congratulations to the 2016 MUSE Awards winners! Fifty-five awards were handed out at the 2016 AAM Annual Meeting & MuseumExpo in Washington, DC in a champagne reception and ceremony honoring their achievements. M&T wishes to thank The Johns Hopkins University Museum Studies Program for their generous financial support of this event. And thanks also to Nik Apostolides, Deputy CEO of the US Capitol Visitor Center, for his stirring keynote address. The 28th annual MUSE Awards call for applications will open in late fall of 2016. Stay tuned for details!

MUSE awards recognize outstanding achievement in Galleries, Libraries, Archives or Museums (GLAM) media. The international Alliance Media & Technology Professional Network's annual awards are presented to institutions or independent producers who use digital media to enhance the GLAM experience and engage audiences. The MUSE awards celebrate scholarship, community, innovation, creativity, education and inclusiveness.

Projects must be produced by or for a GLAM, and may include websites, podcasts, multimedia installations, games, interactive kiosks, apps and much more. Review the MUSE Award Category Descriptions and the Criteria for Judging Entries for more details. Winning projects for each category are chosen by an international group of GLAM technology professionals and the awards presented at the Annual Meeting & MuseumExpo. Each category awards four levels of award: Gold, Silver, Bronze or Honorable Mention. A special jury prize, The Jim Blackaby Memorial Award, is optionally granted to an entry selected for its overall achievement as a media or technology-focused museum program. All winners receive a beautiful award plaque and are listed in perpetuity on the Media and Technology MUSE Awards list of past winners. Gold award winners are featured in a special edition of Museum magazine.
