From its inception in 1980 through the end of the program in 2007, the IPAM program made possible over 245 museum exchanges.

Eighty five non-U.S. countries were represented in the following areas:

Thirty nine states, plus the District of Columbia, were represented as follows:

Exchanges were completed by all types of museums. The breakdown of the 242 exchanges, according to the type of collection featured in the exchange, is as follows:

- 4% - Multidisciplinary
