DESCRIPTION
Join internationally recognized collections expert John Simmons in exploring practical tools to help museums develop a collections management policy that reflects a shared institutional vision and commitment to sound practices and increased knowledge of collections management resources.
This webinar will address why good policies are fundamental to managing collections properly. You will learn the differences between policies, plans, and procedures, and how to assemble a policy development team to address the critical issues affecting the management of your museum’s collections. We will examine critical policy issues involved in the acquisition, accession, and deaccession of collections; research use and loans of collection objects; and learn how to ensure that your institution’s collections management policies remain effective in the long-term.
