Thinking about new ways to use technology in your museum? Developing new exhibitions, new interpretive programs, or new virtual spaces? The AAM Learning in Museums Seminar 2008 (LiM 2008): Technology, Interpretation and Learning in Museums is for you!LiM 2008, presented in collaboration with the AAM Committee on Education (EdCom) and the AAM Media and Technology Committee (M&T) will introduce you to a range of possible uses of technology and new media and how to plan and implement a collaborative technology project to support the interpretation of your collections and enhance your visitors’ learning experience. Throughout the two-day program, participants will engage with technologists, educators/interpretation specialists, and other expert practitioners who will collectively provide a balanced perspective on the topic.

Who Should Attend
LiM 2008 is for anyone who cares about the future of museums and the increasingly integral relationship between technology and interpretation in our institutions.  LiM 2008 will benefit:

  • Directors, educators, curators, exhibit designers, media and technology specialists, collection managers, marketing and PR professionals, evaluation experts and individuals responsible for visitor services planning for a variety of approaches to learning and visitor engagement
  • Museum professionals with a limited or intermediate level of knowledge of existing technology and new media available to support learning
  • Experienced museum education, media and technology specialists in search of advanced/cutting edge tools and products available to museums
  • Institutional teams of participants from the same institution who want to plan and implement a technology or new media project to support interpretation and learning in their institution

This seminar is ideal for institutional teams to discuss and strategize possible technology and interpretation issues with each other and with other seminar participants. Therefore the seminar is especially intended for teams of two or more staff from the same museum.
