The AAM Medal for Distinguished Philanthropy honors altruism and extraordinary museum patronage.
The cast sterling silver medal recognizes exceptional financial generosity; support for collections, exhibitions or programs; and volunteer leadership and stewardship. It is bestowed upon either an individual or organizational donor; the category alternates yearly.
Judging criteria include the value of the awardee’s contribution, duration of involvement, the overall range of experience demonstrated, the level of commitment, the impact of the contribution, and the diversification of programs supported. The awardee’s encouragement of museum philanthropy, volunteerism and trusteeship, support for entrepreneurial and innovative programs, and national impact are also considered.
The Medal for Distinguished Philanthropy program is undergoing evaluation at this time. Please continue to check the website in the future, and feel free to contact Development at development@aam-us.org.
