Each year, concurrent with the AAM Annual Meeting, several peer reviewers who have shown themselves to be leaders in the museum field are honored for their outstanding performance on a visit in the previous calendar year.
Criteria
To be eligible for nomination for this award, a peer reviewer must have:
- Completed at least one site visit for either the Museum Assessment or Accreditation programs in the award year (January–December of the previous year).
- Received generally high evaluation ratings for his/her on-site performance and/or report by the respective program staff, the museum and, if applicable, the Accreditation Commission.
- Demonstrated a broad knowledge of general museum operations.
- Effectively communicated facts and ideas verbally and in writing.
- Exhibited good interpersonal skills.
- Set the standard for excellence for museum professionals in general.

Who can nominate a peer reviewer for the EPRSA?
- Museums: The museum that had the review as one of its MAP or Accreditation reviewers
- Peer Reviewers: You can nominate your team member or another colleague you know conducted a review
- Accreditation and MAP staff
- Members of the Accreditation Commission (applies only to Visiting Committee members)
E-mail your nomination to Peer Review. Include the nominee’s name, the name of the museum s/he visited (if known), and why you are nominating the peer reviewer.
Nominations are accepted at any time and close for the award year on December 31. Decisions are usually made in the first quarter of the following year.
