AAM Online Mentoring Program
The American Association of Museums has entered into a partnership with Triple Creek Associates to develop and facilitate a web-based mentoring program for AAM members. OpenMentoring® will enable mentors to connect with emerging museum professionals seeking their expertise, define their commitment, and manage mentoring activities and accountability. Once a successful connection has been established, the mentor fosters the development of the mentee by sharing resources, values, skills, perspectives, attitudes, and proficiencies. Mentees can build skills and knowledge while attaining goals for career development. Conversely, mentors can further enhance skills and knowledge areas by continuously reassessing and building upon those areas.
If you are an AAM member and would like to participate as a mentor in this pilot project, please contact Gareth Rees at grees@aam-us.org to enroll now.
If you would like to participate as a mentee in the spring of 2009 (the pilot phase has reached its mentee group capacity), please send a request to be notified next spring of mentee opportunities to emergingprofessionals@aam-us.org. Include in your subject heading “Mentee Sign Up Spring 2009”.
