AAM Names Gail Ravnitzky Silberglied Director of Government Relations
Legislative Veteran to Lead Advocacy Efforts for America's Museums
Washington, DC, 4/24/2008 -
The American Association of Museums (AAM) has appointed Gail Ravnitzky Silberglied director of government relations.
Ms. Ravnitzky Silberglied will head AAM’s advocacy efforts on policy and budgetary issues, on Capitol Hill and with federal, state and local governments. A legislative and policy professional with nearly 10 years experience as a congressional staff member (including three years as chief of staff for Representative Adam Schiff), Ms. Ravnitzky Silberglied worked on a variety of issues as a Hill staffer, including appropriations, health, education, immigration and foreign policy. She also was chief policy advisor to a member of the House Judiciary Committee and part of the bipartisan Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues. Ms. Ravnitzky Silberglied most recently served as executive director of the Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse, based in Rockville, MD.
“Gail brings a breadth of legislative and managerial experience to her position at AAM, qualities that will undoubtedly bolster AAM’s efforts to represent America’s museums in the halls of government and beyond,” said Ford Bell, president of AAM.
Ms. Ravnitzky Silberglied is a graduate of New York University. She lives in North Bethesda, MD.
