AAM Elects New Board Chair, Vice Chair and

Seven New Board Members

 

WASHINGTON, DC (May 2, 2008) − The American Association of Museums (AAM) announced the election of a new chair, vice chair and seven new members to its Board of Directors. The new chair, Carl Nold, executive director of Historic New England in Boston, will be introduced to a general session of the AAM Annual Meeting in Denver by immediate past chair, Irene Hirano. 

 

Nold and his fellow electees will assume their new roles at the conclusion of the AAM Annual Meeting on May 1, 2008. The AAM board is comprised of a chair, vice chair, immediate past chair and 18 members-at-large − all museum professionals from institutions diverse in type, size and geographic location.

 

“As the nation’s oldest and largest museum association, AAM has for decades benefited from a committed and visionary board of directors,” said Ford W. Bell, president of AAM. “These individuals are destined to continue that tradition of service, both to AAM and to the entire museum field.”

 

Nold will serve a two-year term as chair, from 2008 to 2010. He is joined by the following board members:
