An Arts Field Guide to Federal Disaster Relief

The National Coalition for Arts’ Preparedness and Emergency Response (NCAPER) Field Guide gives a snapshot of potentially available federal disaster assistance programs and focuses on longstanding programs that are likely to continue.

DisasterAssistance.gov

DisasterAssistance is part of the President’s Disaster Management Initiative and provides information about the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) disaster application process and other government assistance.

Disaster Declarations

This website from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has information about which counties are included in designated disaster areas and are therefore eligible for federal disaster assistance.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance

The Department of Labor administers the disaster unemployment assistance program. Assistance is available to individuals whose employment or self-employment has been lost or interrupted as a direct result of a major disaster; it is designed to assist those not eligible for regular unemployment insurance benefits (under any state or federal law).
