Americans With Disabilities
This topic has provided the opportunity for AAM to collaborate with a series of partners on issues such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, HIV/AIDS, universal design, and arts education for people with disabilities.

Egyptian Museum Professionals Training Program
AAM developed and managed this two-year project that trained 16 Egyptian museum professionals during six-week programs, which included classroom study, field trips to institutions and sites, and placement in host museums for hands-on study.

Excellence and Equity was the first major report on the educational role of museums ever to be issued by AAM.

Museums Celebrate America's Freedoms
On the occasion of the first anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, AAM and the Institute for Museum and Library Services developed this clearinghouse of special museum programs.

Museums Helping Museums
As a result of the 2005 hurricane season, communities along the Gulf coast suffered a tremendous loss of natural and cultural heritage. In light of this great tragedy, the American museum community joined together to support their colleagues. 

Museums in the Life of a City
The Museums in the Life of a City initiative was established to enhance the appreciation of cultural diversity by building partnerships between museums and communities.

National Interpretation Project
The National Interpretation Project organized six regional study groups resulting in the development of a list of characteristics, elements, and outcomes of exemplary interpretation.  See also National Interpretative Planning Colloquium.

New Visions
Tools for Change in Museums
New Visions focuses on dialogue, assessment, vision, and action to guide museums through institutional change. 

Summit of Museums of the Americas
Museums and Sustainable Communities: Summit of the Museums of the Americas focused on defining museums’ relationship with their communities and on crafting policies that support community development, the training of museum personnel, and collaborations among museums of the Western Hemisphere.

Year of the Museum and Centennial Information
In recognition of AAM's Centennial, the United States Congress declared 2006 the Year of the Museum. Museums that participated were part of a national effort to bring together the collective voice of the museum field to encourage Americans to experience, celebrate and support the museums in their communities.
