Museums & Sustainable Communities: Summit of the Museums of the Americas, took place in San Jose, Costa Rica, in April 1998. Organized by AAM and convened by ICOM-Costa Rica with the cooperation of other ICOM committees, the conference focused on defining museums’ relationship with their communities and on crafting policies that support community development, the training of museum personnel, and collaborations among museums of the Americas.
