Hi Sarah! I read about this project on Pop-Up City: here is their article about the project http://popupcity.net/a-floating-forest-in-the-baltic-sea/ It is my impression that the floating trees are not sustainable (ironic) long term–they are designed as thought pieces. But the article concludes "When summer is over, the trees are brought to the land to be rooted in a local city park, elongating the lifespan of the project as part of the city and its cultural community."
