Speak Up for Museums: Urge Congress to Support the Office of Museum Services
Following the Alliance’s recent live testimony on Capitol Hill, the annual congressional appropriations process is ramping up and is expected to move faster than past years. The House FY 2019 Labor-HHS-Education appropriations measure, which includes funding for the Office of Museum Services (OMS) within the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), is expected to be considered by the House Appropriations Labor-HHS-Education and Related Agencies Subcommittee next week and then by the full Appropriations Committee the week of June 18. The Senate Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee is expected to consider its version of the bill the week of June 25.
Ask Congress to Support FY 2019 OMS Funding
“Museum advocates scored a significant victory in FY 2018 with a three million dollar funding increase for OMS and are well-positioned to build on their hard-fought momentum,” said Alliance President and CEO Laura Lott. “At this stage in the process, it’s vital that legislators continue to hear from the museums they represent.”
