Confronted with the global pandemic, individual and institutional philanthropy has been responsive, engaged, and nimble. What role can philanthropy play in helping museums to recover and become more resilient? Do funders still view museums as partners in bridging community divides, bringing communities together, and building empathy and understanding? The panel will offer a unique opportunity for museum professionals to hear the perspective of philanthropic leaders, as they discuss their philanthropic priorities for support of the Arts and Museums. Speakers include Sandra Aponte, Manager of Community Impact of The Chicago Community Trust; Geoffrey Banks, Senior Program Officer at McArthur Foundation; Charles Katzenmeyer, Vice President of Institutional Advancement at the Field Museum of Natural History; Don Cooke, Senior Vice President of Philanthropy at McCormick Foundation; and Carrie Morgridge, Co-founder of Morgridge Family Foundation. This Elevate Stage session took place as part of the 2021 AAM Annual Meeting & MusuemExpo on June 9, 2021, and was generously supported by Microsoft.
