The Carbon Inventory Project (CIP) is a product of Culture Over Carbon: Understanding Museums’ Energy Use. It is funded by IMLS as a National Leadership Grant.
These free monthly Office Hours train you to confidently monitor and report energy use at your museum, zoo, or site.
This month’s training focuses on accurately recording the fuel you have delivered (oil or natural gas, for example) and the energy you generate (solar, for example) in Energy Star Portfolio Manager. This will help you build an accurate total for benchmarking from year to year. This is important if you institution is considering setting emissions reductions goals. It is also becoming increasingly important for reporting impacts for energy and infrastructure grants, and for local rules compliance.
To help the entire sector improve its climate action, please also consider signing on to contribute your 2022 annual energy use and emissions totals for the first Carbon Day accounting by June 2023. The total will be shared as an anonymous aggregated number with a list of participants (if desired). Any US site can participate.
